Southwest Airlines Captain Jeff Martin holds a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from Pittsburgh State School of Business majoring in Marketing/Finance. He has also attended the Harvard School for Negotiations, and is a National Mediation Board Graduate.
Prior to being hired by Southwest Airlines, Jeff was employed by Cessna Aircraft Finance Corporation and National Aviation Underwriters. Jeff has held numerous positions at Southwest Airlines including: First Officer, Captain, Check Airman, Manager of Pilot Hiring, Assistant Chief Pilot, Assistant Director of Flight Operations and he is currently the Senior Director of Flight Operations. He has logged over 12,000 hours of B737 and DC-10-30 flight time.
Jeff’s current responsibilities include the oversight of 3200 SWA daily flight operations to include: regulatory compliance, aircraft procedures, aircraft configuration, Flight Operations technical support, Flight Operations Air Traffic Control, Flight Operations strategic and budgetary compliance.
For the past 24 months, Jeff’s primary focus has been the automation transformation and implementation of Required Navigational Performance (RNP) for 550 Southwest aircraft and more than 5,500 Southwest Pilots. Southwest Airlines is midway through their conversion of ground based navigation to a 100% GPS and RNP fleet. The automation project encompasses a $175M budget and a support staff of 200 employees.
