Dai Whittingham
Chief Executive

Dai Whittingham joined the Royal Air Force as a pilot in 1974.  He flew F4 Phantoms in the Air Defence fighter role and was the senior instructor pilot and standards evaluator for the RAF Phantom force.  He has also instructed at initial jet flight training.  He has commanded an E-3D AWACS squadron and the main operating base at RAF Waddington, Lincoln UK, and completed a range of staff appointments that included aviation policy formulation and duties as a regulator. Dai’s last military post was as Deputy Commander for the NATO Airborne Early Warning and Control Force, where he was the general officer responsible for strategic and operational direction of the programme, regulation and oversight of operations, logistics and safety, development of acquisition requirements, and continued airworthiness. Dai joined the UKFSC as Chief Executive in February 2012 and is active in a wide range of safety-related working groups and industry bodies.  A Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, he is a member of ECAST and the FSF’s European Advisory Committee.
