Captain Jim Gorman
Retired VP, MD Flight Training and Standards
US Airways, NetJets, Fedex Express

Jim graduated from Stamford High School in Connecticut with a career in aviation that spans more than 40 years. He started flight training at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in 1973, earning a Bachelor of Science degree. At the age of 25 he entered the great world of major airlines, starting as a US Air (now US Airways) Flight Engineer on the B-727.

During his 26-year tenure at US Airways, he rose from Second Officer, to Managing Director of Training and Standards, having served as Line Captain, Check Airman, Senior Check Airman, and Fleet Captain, flying the B-727, B-737, and B-757/767.

In 2007, he was joined NetJets as Vice President of Training and Standards, where he served until 2010.

He was later approached by FedEx to join them as Vice President of Training and Standards, where he served until deciding to retire recently, having added one more type rating, on the MD-11, and accumulating more than 13,000 hours of flight time. 

Aside from aviation, Jim’s faith and devotion are the hallmark of his life that have helped him through all difficult moments. He has been married for 29 years to a beautiful woman he met when she was a Flight Attendant at US Air. Jim and Dana have a married son, and a lovely daughter.
